TheSchool of Juris Master of China University of Political Science and Law (CUPL) held the graduation ceremony for its 2020 postgraduates in the afternoon of July 10 in the Central Hall of the 4thFloor, Comprehensive Building of its Haidian campus. Vice President Li Xiuyun, Secretary of the CPC Committee Han Wensheng, Dean Xu Shenjian, Deputy Dean Liu Zhihui, Deputy Dean Liang Min, representative ofintramuralacademicadvisorsLiu Xuanlin, representative ofextramuralacademicadvisorsand senior partner of Beijing Weiheng Law Firm Peng Yixuan, representative of outstanding alumni, Secretary of theParty Leadership Groupand Chief Justice of Beijing Internet Court Zhang Wen,as well asthe faculty and all the graduates of the School of Juris Master attended the graduation ceremony, a combination of online and offline agenda.
The ceremony kicked off in the video of regards and greetings from representatives of the faculty and graduates in 2020 before it officially started at 14:30 in the magnificent rhythm of the national anthem.
Prof. Li Xiuyun,Vice President of CUPL, offered her encouragement and regards for the graduates from the School of Juris Master, congratulating them on their successful graduation and sending her expectations mixed with warm care for these fresh graduates who had to brave “the most challenging job market ever”.
A veteran with 30 years of experience in the Internet Court and working on her PhD degree in applied law since 2018 in CUPL, Zhang Wen shared her memorable experiences on campus and her adventures in the legal career. Zhang said she was enjoying her studies in CUPL, not only for the beauty of the campus and the awe for study and research, “going to class is more important than anything else”, but also for the strong faith in the rule of law and the persistent pursuit for justice and righteousness. According to Zhang, excellent alumni of CUPL are active in Beijing Internet Court, and fresh graduates should be both far-sighted and down-to-earth, thriving like seeds of dandelions. She expects all graduates to develop a global vision and a deep love for the country while cherishing a steadfast faith and a kind heart, toembracea profound mind and an upright personality as legal professionals,and toseizeevery moment and bravely pursuetheir dreams.
Associate Professor Liu Xuanlin, representative ofintramuralacademicadvisors, expressedhiswishes and expectations for the fresh graduates on behalf of the entire faculty.
AttorneyPeng Yixuan, representative ofextramuralacademicadvisors, shared his experience andinsightsafter graduation while reflecting on his youth.
Wan Nanjiang, a 2020 graduate with full honors, gave thanks to the university, the school and the faculty for the knowledge and edification, as he recollected the three years of diligence and dedicationforseeking the truth and pursuing excellence.
A commendation ceremony followed as Prof. Han Wensheng announced the commendation for 2020 graduates with full honors.
Prof. Xu Shenjian, Dean of the School of Juris Master, finally delivered a speech titled “Structuring Your Beidou System”, pointing out that one will experience ups and downs in life, encouraging students to change what can be changed, accept what cannot be changed and be wise enough to distinguish between the two.He saidthat the COVID-19 pandemic would eventually be understood and overcome, and alsoreminded students to cherish life and care about health. Looking into the future, Prof. Xu Shenjian advised students to readily take responsibility and exert all human efforts before leaving the rest to destiny without regret; that one should be a realistic idealist rather than a naïve soul idling away in daydreams.
Accompanied by melodious and emotional music, the smiling faces of 2020 graduates shining with youthandjoy appeared on the screen, bringing the 2020 graduation ceremony of postgraduates of the School of Juris Master of CUPL to an end. This was a heartening end as well as a delightful start, a completion of a brilliant past as well as a fresh beginning of a bright future; a summary of what is past and a herald of what is lying ahead.
