The School of Juris Master in CUPL and University of Exeter Hold the Cooperation Exchange Session

On the morning of April 7, 2023, the School of Juris Master held an exchange session with the University of Exeter in the United Kingdom regarding international communication and cooperation. Attendees included Ms. DAI Limin, Senior Business Development Manager and Global Partner at the University of Exeter, Mr. TANG Yan, Deputy Director of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange at CUPL, XU Shenjian, Dean of the School of Juris Master in CUPL, LIU Zhihui, Vice Dean of the School of Juris Master in CUPL, LIANG Min, Vice Dean of the School of Juris Master in CUPL, and CAO Huiqun, Secretary of Foreign Affairs, participated in the discussions. The discussion was chaired by Vice Dean LIANG Min.

Dean XU Shenjian first welcomed Ms. Dai limin and expressed gratitude to the University of Exeter and the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange at CUPL for their support to the School. He elaborated on the development history of the School and emphasized its educational advantages, with a special focus on programs for foreign-related lawyers and international arbitration. Xu stated that international development is crucial for legal education, and the University of Exeter and CUPL have a solid foundation for cooperation. He hoped that both sides could deepen their exchanges and cooperation for fruitful outcomes.

Ms. DAI Limin mentioned that the two universities have a long history of cooperation, and the University of Exeter also attaches great importance to collaboration with CUPL. She introduced the basic information, characteristics and advantages of the University of Exeter, with a focus on the research expertise and strengths of their Law School. She fully affirmed the importance of cultivating students’ international perspectives and thinking model, and emphasized the significance of cross-cultural communication and interdisciplinary academic abilities, which are among the strengths of the University of Exeter. She stated that the university encourages international exchanges and cooperation and has put forward some ideas for future collaboration with the School of Juris Master in research, academic activities and degree programs.

Deputy Director Tang Yan was very happy to facilitate the meeting between the School of Juris Master and the University of Exeter. She shared previous experiences in long and short-term student exchange programs and hoped that both sides could explore new areas for cooperation, so as to promote faculty and student exchanges and academic collaboration.

Vice Dean LIU Zhihui provided an overview of the School’s teaching and talents cultivation, and highlighted the characteristics of the programs for foreign-related lawyers and international arbitration from the three aspects of comparative education of legal ethics, specialized practical curriculums and a diversified faculty team. She proposed specific areas for collaboration and stated that the School has been actively exploring cooperative education mechanisms both at home and abroad, hoping to take this opportunity to implement relevant measures and provide more international exchange opportunities for students.

During the open discussion session, both sides delved into topics such as cultivation models, exchange programs and internships, and reached a consensus on further cooperation and exchanges.
